What Is Clay County Club Pickleball League?

The Clay County Club Pickleball League is a local club-vs-club league in Clay County, Florida that runs organized doubles play across multiple clubs in Northeast Florida.

What the league is

  • The league is designed specifically for club vs club competition giving local clubs in Clay County (and nearby) a structured way to compete against each other.
  • Past participants include Oakleaf, Rolling Hills, Eagle Landing, Eagle Harbor, and travel teams such as Varnes and Ringhaver whose home matches are played at opponents’ courts.

Formats and nights

  • Regular offerings include Monday Night Men’s Doubles Advanced, Tuesday Night Men’s Doubles Intermediate, Thursday Night Ladies Doubles, Friday Night Mixed Doubles, and Friday Morning Senior Coed.
  • Each league has its own scoring format depending on the number of teams.

Skill levels and ratings

  • Players are grouped broadly into Advanced and Intermediate, with “Intermediate” defined as having no DUPR rating of 3.5 or above at the start of the season. Advanced is defined as no player with a rating of 4.5 or above.
  • If a player is unrated, their placement is based on the judgment of the club pro.
  • Players can opt in to have their DUPR ratings updated by joining DUPR and selecting Clay County Pickleball League as one of their clubs at mydupr.com. All 4 players in any given match must have joined the DUPR club for the results to count.

Cost and season structure

  • The participation fee is $25 per player per season, and substitutes who play in two or more matches are expected to pay the same season fee.
  • Season champions are determined by the best record of team vs team matches across the season, with tie-breakers of head-to-head result first, then number of individual team-vs-team matches won, and finally a playoff match if needed.
  • In some cases the season champion will be determined by an end of the season playoff.
